Do you want to be a part of a new bi cultural alcohol and drug treatment service delivered in partnership with Serco within the Auckland South Corrections facility?

We are currently seeking to recruit a permanent full time Kaiārahi Māori - Cultural lead, to join our Alcohol and Drug treatment programme. You will play a key role of delivering cultural programmes and providing cultural support to Kaimahi and tāngata whai ora (people seeking wellness) with the aim of helping them to achieve their treatment goals, working closely with colleagues.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • 3 years’ experience in Mātauranga Māori, including experience of working with kaumātua, pakeke/adults and tāngata whai ora in the addictions and/or mental health setting
  • Recognised skill in one or more Māori art forms and confidence in tikanga Māori, including mihi whaketau/whaikōrero, karanga kapa haka, te reo or marae protocol
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi 
  • Demonstrated involvement with hapū and iwi including active involvement in marae activities
  • Passionate about working with tāngata whaiora and ability to create an environment where they can meet their full potential.
  • Full drivers’ licence

Odyssey can offer you:

  • A salary between $72,000 and $79,872 depending on registration and experience.
  • A $2000 location allowance on top of your salary
