Do you want to be part of a ground-breaking programme that seeks to tackle addiction challenges based on the principle that what works for Māori works for all? 

We now have a vacancy for a 7 month fixed term full-time (40 hours per week) Practitioner | Kaiwhakamahereroa Waranga, working in our Te Ngāhere, Intensive Treatment Programme at Auckland Region Women’s Correctional Facility in Wiri. 

You will be part of a supportive, multi-disciplinary team, delivering eight-week therapeutic Alcohol and other Drug (AOD) programmes that are grounded in Māori and Pasifika approaches. Your role will include assessments, individual and group interventions and providing aftercare support. 

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant clinical experience in a health, addictions and/or mental health care setting 
  • A relevant (level 7) qualification e.g. Bachelors in Social Work, Health Science, AOD, Psychology, Counselling
  • Great communication skills and the ability to engage and motivate others
  • An active interest in and knowledge of Māori tikanga and the cultural customs of one or more Pacific peoples
  • An interest/willingness to work towards professional registration e.g. with DAPAANZ or other HPCA professional body and learn about and use Māori and Pacific models of care
  • Motivational Interviewing and group facilitation skills/experience
  • Time management, report writing and administrative skills 

We can offer you:

  • A salary between $67,225 and $77,272 per annum depending on registration and experience 
  • An annual $2000 ‘location’ allowance + 5 days study leave per annum
